A couple of weeks ago we were invited to one of the Workwell’s first open coworking events at the MK Bier Garten in Wolverton, Milton Keynes.
Now we love a spot of craft beer and have been hooked on the crazy flavours from brewers around world since Brew Dog first released their Punk IPA, so visiting a craft beer bottle shop/bar and spending the day there working was no hardship whatsoever.
We loaded up some our wooden laptop stands and standing desks into the car and hit the roundabouts of Milton Keynes to head for the very up and coming area of Wolverton, where nestled in some converted railway yard warehouses, is the MK Bier Garten.
The premise of the day was a pop-up coworking day in somewhere a bit more interesting than a coffee shop. It’s always nice to meet and work with new people and the bottle shop was nicely decked out and our awesome host Laurie was on hand to deal with any of our requests throughout the day (although everyone was very restrained and didn’t pop any beers open until after 3.30!).
The S-Desk 22 standing desk converter was a massive hit with everyone, and we now have a few new standees as a result of our little relaxed intro into standing and working. The day was a real opportunity for us to share our design thoughts on new Helmm products with people and get their opinions on styles and materials. I even got some work done too!
The plywood finish of our products seemed to match the interior of the place very well and the amazing array of colourful beer bottles and cans made a lovely back drop for some great images.
We have always stated that standing and working is a great way to improve mental focus and help reduce procrastination. Beer however, is not. So we’d say the afternoon may have got a little slower after some beers were opened, but that’s what I guess we’d call productivity offsetting (or something like that).
