our story
Our chief product designer, Sam Cranwell, is the creative brain behind our beautifully practical and epochal (his word of the moment) standing desks and laptop stands. Sam’s father was a passionate furniture-maker and carpenter by trade, which set Sam’s interest and career in motion when he was just 13.
18 years on, and with a successful career in graphic and product design behind him, Sam now spends his happy days drawing, directing, crafting and sanding our standing desks and laptop stands.
The idea for standing desks came from an interest in workplace wellbeing that began when Sam and his wife set up one of the UK’s very first co-working spaces, FunkBunk, back in 2007, which they still run today. It was here that their pre-occupation with the work environment began. Working alongside everyone from rocket scientists (yes, really) and web designers to techies and jewellery-makers, they began curating and designing interiors and products that would make a genuine improvement to the working day of their residents.
Today, their obsession with workplace-wellbeing, beautiful desk products and inspirational office interiors is bordering on the obsessive – but that’s a good thing.
Sam is supported by a wonderful and equally passionate team of creatives, suppliers and manufacturers who each help to bring these stylishly salubrious, British-made, hand-finished pieces to your home or office.
